For me a Prosecco sparkling wine can often leave a better impression than a bottle of Champagne,  with the Non Vintage Prosecco Borgo del Col Alto being one such wine that has the ability to really impress. Produced by  Casa Vinicola Botter, which has been in existence  since 1928, this is a wine that has been made by the same family who made the very first bottle, and if you needed any evidence of how good they are, they’ve managed to go from a mere 100 hectare estate to beginning a company that works with producers throughout Italy to produce some extraordinary wines.

Sold in  75 cl bottles at Wine Hound, this Italian sparkling wine heralds from the Veneto region and will, when poured, fill your glass with a wonderfully pale yellow colour that is topped off with fine mousse that really acts to make it hard to resist sipping it the second you have it in your hand. However if you can, it’s worth waiting and exploring more about this wine by first taking smell to see what it reveals. Delicate to the nose, this may take a few goes to discover a lot, but when you do, you’re going to experience something that will let your mind wander to a peaceful Summer morning as hints of flowers and home grown apples tick their way up your nose.

Take a sip and these flavours, whilst still light, will continue to develop with honey beginnning to wrap its sweet self around your taste buds, before being joined by a selection of fresh fruits to create a medium dry wine that does incredibly well drunk on it’s own as a toasting wine or with starters.

The Prosecco Borgo del Col Alto is currently available for the reduced price of £7.99 a bottle / £95.88 for a case of 12 at Wine Hound.

Prices correct at the time of writing but are subject to change at any time.
