August 19, 2009 by Wine Gal
If you’re after a Non Vintage Champagne that’s going to taste like it’s something a whole lot more special then you can’t go far wrong with this Blue Top NV from Heidsieck Dry Monopole. Displaying all the flavours that a champagne should and more , a glass of this will take you on a wonderful journey of exploration that will see your mouth brought to life by the gentle spices of this champagne before being sweetened by the toasty butter flavours that finally develop into a wonderfully complex biscuity finish.
Made from handpicked grapes across the Champagne region, this bottle of pop is made up of a majority of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes that have been pressed as bunches before being fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks to give it a wonderful weight and depth which has then gone through a secondary fermentation to give it that toasty creamy flavour we all associate with Champagne.
Perfect to drink on it’s own, this Heidsieck champagne will also be a perfect match to any light white meat or seafood dish, and will be perfect this Summer served with with some fresh bread and a gorgeously dressed gourmet chicken salad.
Normally available for £28.99 a bottle, this Champagne is currently £22.99 online at Oddbins.
